Britain Brings Autonomous Vehicles by 2026
Britain just passed the Automated Vehicle (AV) Act on May 20, 2024, bringing Great Britain firmly at the forefront of self-driving technology. Groundbreaking move could create 38,000 more skilled jobs by 2035 and significantly boost road safety, as human error causes 88% of road collisions. The legal framework clarifies liability for AVs, ensuring drivers aren’t held responsible while their vehicle is in self-driving mode.
U.S. Hits 183,000 Public EV charger
The U.S. now boasts over 183,000 public EV charging ports, having added more than 13,000 in the last three months. This milestone brings the nation more than a third of the way to its goal of 500,000 public ports by 2030. With the number nearly doubling since January 2021 and millions in NEVI funding ready to accelerate installations, the EV infrastructure is charging ahead.
Kia’s Affordable EV with AI Assistant and 372 Miles of Range
Kia’s all-electric 2026 EV3 SUV is here, and it’s packed with impressive features. The compact SUV boasts a range of up to 350 miles and a price tag between $30-50k, it also benefits from being manufactured in Georgia, USA. This could help it dodge the recent trade tariffs, making it more affordable than Chinese EVs. The EV3’s AI assistant and long range make it a compelling option for EV enthusiasts.
Stellantis Confirms $25k Jeep EV
Jeep is going full throttle into the EV market with its latest announcement: a $25k Jeep. This budget-friendly model will be the brand’s third EV for the US, following the Wagoneer S and the off-road Recon. CEO Carlos Tavarez emphasizes Sellantis’s responsibility to offer ultra-affordable EVs, making it easier for consumers to make the switch.
Tesla Supercharger Access for GM and Polestar Delayed
Tesla’s ambitious plans to open its Supercharger network to other EVs have hit a speed bump. Due to layoffs within Tesla’s Supercharger team, GM and Polestar’s access has been delayed. Originally set for spring 2024, GM and Polestar will now gain access later this summer. Ford and Rivian owners already have access, but further delays for other automakers are expected as Tesla rebuilds its team.
